Introduction
Winning in baccarat is easy primarily because the game has very low house edge. Baccarat is a game where you only have to wager between 3 possible outcomes on one of two hands. To win baccarat, the hand that you have wagered on must match up the hand of the winning hand.
In baccarat, two hands are dealt— the Banker hand and Player hand. The house edge of Banker bet is 1.17%. That leaves about 99% punter’s edge! Player bet has a house edge of 1.35% and that also leaves around 99% punter’s edge. In the case of a Tie the house edge is 14.1%.
Payment for a winning banker side or Player side is 1:1. For Tie the payment is 8:1 if you bet on Tie and all bets on Player and Banker are return to the bettors.
The casino make a profit by charging the winning Banker side a commission of 5% or in some casino they pay only 50% on the winning Banker side when the total point is 6. Statistically the Banker side have a winning probabilty of 45.8% compared to Player 44.6% and Tie is 9.6%.
The hand which has the highest point or closest to 9, will be the winning hand. A hand has two-three cards, and the winning hand is one with a sum of 9 or closest to it.
All cards from 2 to 9 are counted at face value and an Ace is counted as 1. Picture cards ( King, Queen & Jack ) and tens have a value of zero or any combinations totalling 10 will likewise be regarded as zero.
A hand gets two cards for each. The cards are totaled. If a hand has 8 or 9, then that hand wins. So is the bet on that hand. But if no hand scores of 8 or 9, drawing of card alone is following a third-card rule.
It is not necessary to learn the rules but it is good to know because the dealer may forget to apply the rules correctly. The total number of cards use for playing ranges from 1 up to 8 decks of cards at the absolute discretion of the casino. If the casino uses 8 deck of cards not all cards will be dealt out. There will be a balance of approximately one deck left in the shoe.
Variation of bets you can place has evolved to such an extent that you can bet on Pairs for the Banker or Player hand. Payment is 11:1.
